Monica Kursner, Founder of KMK
Origin
The founder of KMK, Monica Kursner, was born in Argentina, but lives between Uruguay, in Punta del Este, and Switzerland, near Geneva. An animal lover – she owns 36 adopted stray dogs and 27 cats – who makes her home in Punta del Este the home of horses, geese, peacocks, cows and a deer. So, it’s usual she gets inspired from nature and animals to be applied in her KMK’s unique creations. Monica also holds an important collection of Pre-Columbian and Greek art, linking certain creations to history and time.

Passion
Passionate about her new project, Monica is inspired by fashion in the south of France, in Saint Tropez, but also in many other countries. It was in Punta del Este that she launched the KMK adventure in January 2022 to make her dream come true, from a place called “Agapanthus”. A place located in the former Lussich nursery, where art and nature can be mixed, where it’s possible to enjoy design and explore new trends. Agapanthus is an exhibition space and showroom, where, in the words of Herman Hesse, everyone can get into the contemplation of the world in a state of grace.
Art
Bringing a project to life is always difficult and complex. It takes time and embraces constant challenges; but, by means of passion in the effort, it’s also an act of love, and the result is infinite pleasure. The KMK project responds precisely to these assumptions. This new proposal, which combines nature and art, was inaugurated in the former Lussich nursery. This new KMK project, designed by Monica Kursner, is a space where the owner’s creativity blossoms and her fashion creations take off.
The creative process
The idea for KMK originated in Switzerland, then took shape in Uruguay. The line of handbags and hats has multiple origins: Argentina, Ecuador, France, Indonesia, Madagascar, Spain etc. and Monica Kursner takes care of the finishing and design of each unique piece.
